What Add Text to Image Does
This tool adds text to images right in your browser. Load a photo, type your text, and drag it wherever you want it on the preview. Each text box has its own font, size, color, outline, shadow, opacity, alignment and ALL-CAPS option, and you can add as many boxes as you need — a headline and a credit line, or captions for several parts of an image.
Presets set up the common jobs in one click: classic top-and-bottom meme text in bold white with a black outline, a caption near the bottom, or a small semi-transparent watermark in the corner. No photo? Start from a blank background in square, portrait, story or link-preview sizes to make quote cards and title images. The download is drawn at the image’s full resolution, and nothing is uploaded.

Text size and outline in pixels
Font size = size % × image height · visible outline = outline % × font size
Worked example
The meme preset (10% size, 10% outline) on a 1080 × 1080 image.
- 10% × 1080 = 108 px text
- 10% × 108 ≈ 11 px of outline around each letter
Result: Text keeps the same share of the picture at any resolution, so the download matches the preview.

How to Read Your Result
Readable text on photos
Text over a busy photo is hard to read. An outline or a soft shadow separates light text from any background, which is why meme text uses white with a black outline. Keep lines short, make text large enough to read on a phone, and leave some margin from the edges, which some apps crop.
Multi-line text
Press Enter inside a text box to start a new line. Lines are spaced at 1.15 times the font size and the whole block stays centered on the point where you drag it, so a two-line caption grows evenly up and down rather than off the bottom of the image.
Watermarks that work
A watermark should be visible but not distracting: small, 40–70% opacity, in a corner or across a detailed area that would be hard to edit out. It deters casual reuse; it will not stop someone determined to remove it.
