What Cat Age Calculator Does
This cat age calculator converts your cat’s age into human years using the chart veterinarians commonly use: the first year equals about 15 human years, the second brings it to about 24, and each year after adds about 4. Enter years and months, and you also get your cat’s life stage — kitten, young adult, mature adult or senior — as defined in the AAHA/AAFP Feline Life Stage Guidelines, with a short note on what matters for care at that stage.

How to Read Your Result
Why the first two years count so much
By their first birthday cats are sexually mature and nearly full grown — the equivalent of a mid-teen. By two they are young adults. After that, aging settles into a steady pace, which is why each later year adds only about four human years.
Signs worth a vet visit in older cats
Weight loss, drinking or urinating more, changes in appetite, hiding, litter-box accidents, stiffness or reluctance to jump are common early signs of problems that are easier to manage when caught early. Cats hide illness well, so regular checkups matter more with age.
